Johnson Village Home Dedication
Johnson Village Home Dedication
In a heartwarming display of unity and community spirit, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated a monumental event — the Home Dedication Ceremony for the Johnson Village subdivision project, on November 12, 2023. The air was filled with warmth and joy as we welcomed community members, volunteers, families, and friends to join us in ushering in a new chapter for three deserving families: the Davis family, the Nang Hee family, and the Wick family.
The event was a testament to the power of coming together for a common cause -- affordable housing here in Clark County and building stable and safe shelters for future generations. Volunteers, families, and friends gathered under the surprising blue sky, united by a shared commitment to building not just houses, but homes.
Each family had a unique story to share during the program. The Davis family, the Nang Hee family, and the Wick family opened their hearts to the community, sharing their aspirations and challenges. Their stories served as powerful reminders of the transformative impact of safe and stable housing. During the ceremony was the emotional moment when each family received the keys to their new homes. It was a symbolic gesture marking not just the opening of doors but the unlocking of a brighter future.
As the families entered their homes for the first time, community members followed, eagerly catching a glimpse of the love and care that went into every detail from our construction volunteers. Laughter, tears, and shared moments of awe filled the air as neighbors explored the new homes that would soon become the backdrop for countless cherished memories in Johnson Village.
This celebration wouldn't have been possible without the generosity and support of our key sponsors. Evergreen Habitat for Humanity extends heartfelt thanks to Salmon Creek United Methodist Church, the Mason E. Nolan Fund at the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington, and Vancouver First United Methodist Church in honor of Ray and Harriet Johnson. Your commitment to community well-being has made dreams come true for these families.
